With the launch of the next-gen consoles just around the corner, new information is disseminated on a regular basis. One such update, regarding Microsoft’s biggest exclusive, is on a sad note. 343 Industries has announced that it will not be releasing Halo Infinite this year. This indicates that the title will miss the launch of Xbox Series X. The game was originally set to feature along with the new console, later this year.

Halo Infinite: ‘Making the Right Decision’
Phil Spencer recently made a guest appearance on Garry Whitta’s Animal Talking show. The conversation was largely about the future of gaming consoles and recent developments.
Spencer spoke about 343 Industries’ decision to push the game to 2021 after much deliberation. The initial plan was to release the game in parts, at various intervals. This meant the free-to-play Multiplayer mode would have launched alongside Xbox Series X. Sadly, the studio has scrapped this too.
Shipping a title as huge as Halo requires umpteen hours of dedication. As disappointing as the delay is, it might prove vital for Xbox, in the long-term.

343 Industries announced earlier this week that a range of factors is responsible for this delay. The global situation accounts for one of them.

“I’ll apologize to the fans because I never like to set up expectations and then not hit them, but I also believe we’re making the right decision, in the long run, for both Xbox and Halo and our customers.”
Thankfully, the Series X remains on course to release later this year.
