The Xbox Games Showcase introduced us to a lot of games. Along with a few other indie titles, games like Avowed, The Medium, and Fable were also announced. But the pièce de résistance, Halo Infinite, did not meet the expectations of the players. The game got a lot of hate after the preview mainly because of its graphics which did not seem very ‘next-gen’.
This prompted a Twitter user Jaseem to go on a rant about how this is totally unfair to him. In the twitter thread, he tagged the top bosses at 343 Industries, including the Narrative Director Dan Chosich.
He started by calling them out for making a mockery out of the game. He said “have taken the initial reaction to halo infinite and all this excitement and you made a mockery out of the game with shitty textures and worse lighting effects that’s your new engine?? 5 years for this?

This was followed by a series of tweets that expressed his love for the franchise and why exactly was he so upset. Take a look:
You have turned an iconic franchise that you even helped building with games like (Halo 4, the current state of MCC and Halo 5's multi-player)
I trusted you guys and I loved you from all my heart, I honestly don't want anything from gaming except Halo

Actually I blame @aarongreenberg, @mattbooty and @XboxP3 as well, you guys are leaders in the Xbox team, is this how you take care of your most iconic franchise? To show it looking like this? Looking like a game worse than the 360 era? ( Bioshock Infinite for example)

Here he actually directly blamed Aaron Greenberg and Matt Booty for not ‘taking care’ of the franchise.
I might not get a reply from you, but you can go into my profile and just take a look, I love halo, it is my favorite game and I played the franchise in total of more than 6 to 9 thousand hours
These are the pleadings of a loving and adoring fan of both halo and xbox

Dan Chosich responds
He ended the thread with a pun where he said hope this will ‘REACH’ you (not bad). Apart from all the blame he put on the top execs, he only wanted to show how much he actually cares about the Halo franchise. This in turn got him a response from Dan Chosich where he said ‘I’ve been in your shoes. I know what it’s like to have expectations built + feel let down. I want you to know your voice matters + is heard. You’re not falling on deaf ears. I always want to live up to the legacy that Bungie pioneered. I personally care a lot about honoring that.’
This was a very cool can composed response from Dan considering the guy just called his work a ‘mockery’. Voicing your opinion for things you care about is always good. But blaming people who work hard to make the things you love, for not doing good enough is a little too harsh. They put all their effort into it and even before you get to see the actual thing, you start getting hate for a preview. That doesn’t seem fair.

Aaron Greenberg’s speaks up for Halo Infinite
Aaron Greenberg in a recent interview with YouTuber Alanah Pearce mentioned that the game is still a work in progress. He also said that the pandemic has affected the workings of the team and well the game should not be judge prematurely. He also asked people to see how it looked in the 4K video they uploaded after the event was over. To be honest, that looks pretty dope. Greenberg also said that it is not possible to show the full power of the graphics fidelity of the Xbox Series X on stream. So, you can definitely expect the actual experience to be different.
Well, it is highly likely that Jaseem will get a much more refined version of the game on the Series X. He probably realized that his rant even though justified, was a little too harsh and tweeted an apology.

I just wanted to apologize to @DanChosich for my tweet a couple of days ago, unfortunately some websites that I have personally seen aren't using his reply the way it was intended to be
I always have faith in 343i's work, so good luck to you Mr Chosich and the rest of the team

All’s well that ends well. In the meantime, we’ll have to wait to see how the new Halo title actually looks like on the Series X. Watch this space for more updates
