The Xbox Games Showcase wrapped up yesterday and many titles were announced. The most awaited game of the event was, undoubtedly, Halo: Infinite. The sixth main installment in the Halo series was questioned by many after the gameplay trailer premiered. The game’s development team sat down after the event to answer questions.
Halo: Infinite continues where Halo 5 left off. Master Chief is out there, this time around to battle the Banished and the Harbinger. The game will make its way to Xbox and PC.

The gameplay premiere packed in a lot. However, many wondered if the game is open-world while others questioned the visual aspect of the game. Being developed for the next-gen consoles, Halo: Infinite graphics looked mediocre at best.
The developers’ words clarify that the game was developed in this manner intentionally. They wanted it to bring in old memories, among other things.
“We really approached this whole thing as a love letter to Halo. We want people to feel the way they did when they first played Halo: Combat Evolved and got into the universe. That has been our goal and our direction ever since we started this, so I really hope everyone likes it when they play”, said Associate Creative Director Paul Crocker.
The statement makes sense because the game did feel like an old arcade Halo. There weren’t significant improvements in visuals and many felt it was pale. Paul Crocker also stated that Halo: Infinite is in a way a “Spiritual reboot.”
The developers wanted the players to feel at home while playing the game. This is applicable to the fans of the game, but for others, this might be, potentially, a huge let-down.
“We really started this game with the concept of the spiritual reboot, which you heard in the narrated version of the campaign demo. That spiritual reboot was really about thinking through what we’ve learned from building Halo 4 and 5 and really looking across the whole history of Halo to grab the most iconic parts.”

When asked if the game was open-world
The developers have snubbed the rumor on Halo: Infinite being open-world. Crocker mentions how the game’s campaign is larger but did not state if it is what every fan expected.
“The campaign in Halo Infinite is several times larger than the last two campaigns we’ve created put together. It’s this new open, expansive experience.”

Halo: Infinite will follow the same pattern other installments in the series have. The game will stay true to its origin and, regardless of what the outcome is, there will always be some old-fashioned gamers out there who’d love to try the game out.
