“He?s had a huge impact on my life and kind of my young adulthood just because at the end of the day, I am not just an athlete I am a girlfriend, I am a daughter. I am a dog mom. There?s a lot that goes into me,” said Biles.

When she is around Owens, she can simply be his girlfriend and doesn’t have to be the cold-hearted athlete who only cares about winning.

“So whenever I come home, I get to be just human rather than just like a stone-cold athlete all the time.”

Moreover, Owens is an athlete himself. He understands the struggle that Biles has been through. This makes Biles feel understood, and she knows that her boyfriend will be there for her.

Simone Biles is much more than gymnastics alone

When Biles goes home to Owens, she likes to be able to go on dates and have fun with him, just like any other girlfriend would. She doesn’t want her life with her boyfriend to also revolve around the sport.

“My life now that I?ve gotten older, I?ve realized gymnastics isn?t my whole life. It?s just a part of my life, so I still have to live,” revealed Biles.

After her bad experience in Tokyo, Biles has realized that regardless of what happens in the sport, she must go on living her life.
