Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has been hunting modders for a while. But it didn’t affect some who are still continuing to mod games like GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Recently, an avid fan showcased a mind-blowing mod for GTA V.
I thought I'd step in GTA Online on PC thinking I might be fine under a new name… turns out I am wrong.

One of the biggest movies in history has to be Inception. This 2010 sci-fi movie is a masterpiece by Christopher Nolan and is very difficult for everyone to understand on the first go. But what attracted the fans most was how the town was bending, and in one scene, there was a city upside down in the sky.

Someone created that similar effect in Grand Theft Auto. Twitter user, Ben, shared a clip where he was flying a helicopter through the skies of Los Santos. However, what shocked everyone was that instead of a blue sky full of clouds, there was the whole Los Santos upside down in the sky. It gave similar vibes as Inception.
How does the modder create this Inception effect in GTA V?
Now everyone just had one thing in mind: how did the modder get an entire city up in the sky? So there is no need to think any longer, as Ben shared how the modder got the whole city in the sky of Los Santos.

Most games have a file called LOD (Level of Detail), a stepped-down version of the original 3D version. When your in-game characters see far-away objects and buildings, they are actually LOD models. But the LOD model reverts back to the original 3D model as the character gets closer.
So, the modder used these LOD files to create this Inspection effect in GTA V. Ben mentioned that GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 usually have six to seven of these LOD-type models. But the modder picked up the SLOD-3 model, which has the biggest low-scaled Los Santos model. It is undoubtedly a fun mod.

Now we have to look if Rockstar games go after the modder. They have been taking legal actions against modders. However, fans aren’t happy with these as they believe mods make the games more enjoyable. It would be nice if Take-Two could look for ways to work with the modders like many other game developers are doing. What are your thoughts on mods in the game?
