Grand Theft Auto Online just got a major DLC update with which Rockstar Games has added the Cayo Perico Heist to the game. It’s only been a few hours since the update rolled out and players have already started grinding. The biggest GTA online update ever demands players to infiltrate the heavily guarded private party island of the ruthless drug lord El Rubio.
The journey takes players onto the new island, Cayo Perico. It all begins with an introduction to a new contact found at the Los Santos nightlife scene’s latest attraction. Players can head over to the Music Locker to get their contracts. They can either go on the mission as a lone wolf or in a pack of up to four.

The date of release for this update is very significant. It was December 15 when legendary rapper Dr. Dre had released his debut solo album, 28 years ago. Therefore, to celebrate the occasion, GTA Online features a cameo from Dre.
The cameo features Dre getting out of a car at the airport, wondering “who the fuck are these people”, referring to the players. The scene ends with a gag about record executive Jimmy Iovine’s ringtone being Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks.

A lot of fans and even industry analysts concluded that this is too specific a hint to ignore. Therefore, while this is nothing concrete, it at least points towards the possibility of GTA 6.
Rockstar also announced that GTA Online will soon be a standalone title for consoles. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners can purchase GTA Online separately by the first half of 2021.
