The chairman of the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League, Rajiv Shukla on Wednesday said that the council meeting on Sunday will constitute a committee which will look into things which are best for the future editions of IPL.

“In the governing council meeting on Sunday, we will form a committee which will look into the best interest of the players, the IPL,” Shukla told reporters here emerging midway into an emergency meeting with the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jagmohan Dalmiya to knit a damage-control strategy.

Two big teams, the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were suspended from the league for the next two years by the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Lodha Committee in the spot fixing and betting scandal that rocked the cash-rich Twenty20 tournament in 2013.

Rajiv Shukla also said that there is time left before the next edition of the league and hence there is no need for the rush. “We do not need to rush, we still have time before the next IPL,” he said.

The council meeting to talk about the best interests of the league is scheduled to be held on Sunday and reportedly will be held in Mumbai.
