It’s again going to be the USA vs the world when the Paris Olympics arrive in three days. The world’s biggest sporting event of the year will see Team USA arming itself to the tooth to retain its elite status in men’s wrestling. A strong contingent comprised of the nation’s best wrestlers will head to the French capital to break their back and bring home hardware. Among them, third-time Olympian Kyle Snyder will be one of the main shoulders for fans to rely on.

Trouncing a younger Issac Trumble in two straight matches at April’s US Olympic Team Trials, Snyder punched his ticket to Paris. While the Olympic gold medalist is easily one of the more experienced names in the American delegation to the 2024 Olympics, a little extra cheering can’t be bad even for Snyder, especially if that happens to come from your biggest fans.

Kyle Snyder can rest assured about having people in his corner in Paris

In an article from hours ago (well, technically, yesterday) by WJLA, Snyder can be heard talking about how he’s “definitely looking to win” gold at the quadrennial event. “I don’t really gameplan very much,” confessed the former Buckeyes star while also briefly noting that things have been changing from what it used to be. While Kyle might have his plans, it looks like his family has come up with their own plan to ensure the 33-year-old can keep his head in the game. And it’s all thanks to his wife Maddie Pack.

My wife is expecting another baby,” Kyle dropped the bomb out of the blue when the interviewer simply asked if the Maryland native’s son Judah would come cheer for his dad from the stands at the 2024 Games. He went on to reveal further that Maddie is due on September 15 and “…things are going good with that“. “It’ll also be the first time Judah got to see me wrestler live,” shared Snyder as his eyes glistened with the same kind of excitement as one-and-a-half-year-old Judah might display.

However, there might be more to it than what meets the eye here. Kyle looked determined as he stated that he must emerge victorious over his foes now that his son and wife were on their way to the City of Love. “He’s gotta know we win,” reiterated the wrestler in a resolute fashion, and considering how his form has been, he shouldn’t fret too much either.

A chance to compensate for his old pal

Ever since Kyle walked away from Tokyo with a silver medal three years ago, he’s added a bunch of other trophies to his cabinet. The 2022 World Championships gold, a bronze at the tournament again last year, winning the gold at the Pan American Championships in both 2023 and 2024, and more top-of-the-podium finishes at the 2023 Budapest and 2024 Zagreb Grand Prix, the “real life Captain America” has been on a roll when it came to subduing his opponents on the mat without breaking much of a sweat. At the Bryce Jordan Center for the Trials too, Snyder pulled off an early victory over an opponent who had been formidable throughout the tournament.

However, while his skills and momentum will surely give him the confidence he needs, the little extra steam in the engines that will be supplied by his family could become the pivotal factor come the 2024 Games. The three-time NCAA individual title winner has also been training for a long time with the 2020 Olympics gold medalist, the Magic Man, David Taylor. While Taylor was ousted from the race to Paris by his own teammate Aaron Brooks at Penn State, do you think Snyder will go on to give his training buddy something to celebrate?
