Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was delighted with the Reds’ win over Leicester City. He said that it was a positive start to the new campaign. This win was a boon inspite of the lack of match fitness for many returning players.

Paul Pogba?s first-half penalty and a Luke Shaw strike sealed a 2-1 victory for the Reds. The Foxes fought back with a late goal from substitute Jamie Vardy but there was nothing stopping United.

Mourinho praised the team’s performance as well as their opponents for a tough battle. The Portuguese manager admitted that he wanted to make at least six changes to the side. He was also aware that captain Paul Pogba could not last the entire match.

However, he felt that he needed to take a more aggressive approach. Fielding Martial in the final 20 minutes of the game could yield a second goal for them. But, he acknowledged that it was a difficult call. He praised his boys for giving it their all during the match.

Mourinho noticed that United played well in certain spells and they were up against a good team.

He was happy for Luke Shaw winning the match with that 2nd goal. However, he confessed that Shaw’s game wasn’t flawless. He made a few mistakes, but overall, his defensive game was on point.
