Such relationships when between celebrities and sportsmen, often come to light for a very public scrutiny. Among these was the controversy surrounding Greg Norman and Chris Evert’s brief marriage, which lasted less than two years.
The tennis star and the golf pro ended their spicy, scandalous relationship after 15 months of marriage. Evert revealed the real reason why the marriage didn’t work out, and ended so soon.

Chris Evert reveals the reason for her split with Greg Norman
Evert was deeply hurt, after her messy and unexpected split with Norman in 2009. The tennis star claimed that her divorce from Norman came out of the blue. She stated, “I had no idea it was coming.” She further explained that Greg and she had never once discussed the idea.

The couple spent three years together, and 15 months married before Norman left Evert. In an interview with Woman’s Day magazine, Evert revealed how she had been left heartbroken. The former tennis pro also opened up about why the marriage didn’t work out and her reason, which was dishonesty.
Evert said, “Any relationship that starts out in a dishonest way is not going to work.” She added that she had brought a lot of guilt from her previous marriage into her relationship with Greg, and that’s why “it already had a strike against it.” The tennis legend believed that their relationship had no honest foundation and that they had both left their spouses for each other, so it would never work out.
Evert opens up about missing her ex-husband
When the Evert and Norman met in 2006, sparks flew instantly. But they were both still married to their respective spouses: Andy Hill and Laura Andrassy. Later that year, they left their partners to be together. Their relationship, though spontaneous and electric, had begun with a scandal. The two tied the knot in the Bahamas two years later.

When Evert was asked if she missed Norman, her answer surprised the world. “I miss my family time with Andy and the kids,” she said. It was evident that Chris had only regrets about her entire time with Norman. She felt guilty for leaving Andy and breaking up their family for Greg.
The former tennis star claimed that her relationship with Andy was the best time of her life and that her three years with Norman couldn’t compare. She stated, “That was 20 years of history. Probably the best years of my life.”
