Every time there is a new Joe Rogan podcast, sports fans get to know a whole different side of their favorite stars. So, what was revealed this time? Well, in a recent conversation with neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman, Rogan began talking about prodigies which inevitably led to a mention of golf legend Tiger Woods. However, this time, the discussion took an unexpected turn as Woods was compared to a legendary figure from the Boxing world, Floyd Mayweather.
Tiger Woods and Floyd Mayweather are two names synonymous when it comes to victory and money. We all know how much of an advantage it is if you know a skill from childhood and how it gives you an upper hand in your field. That was exactly the case with billionaires Tiger Woods and Floyd Mayweather. “There’s something about people that learn when they’re young that are always better than everybody else,” said Rogan, in a recent podcast on Powerful JRE. Born on December 30, 1995, woods took an interest in golf at the ripe age of 6 months, according to Tiger Woods’s Website. Boxing prodigy Mayweather was also not behind the race as he started boxing at the age of 7.
And now, both athletes are renowned names in their respective fields, and it seems like Rogan understands that. “Floyd Mayweather started boxing when he was a little kid, and there’s a thing about striking, and it’s not a hard and fast rule because there are some freaks out there”, said Rogan. And well it is true. Mayweather was born in Michigan, on February 24, 1977, and the 47-year-old won his first professional title in the boxing industry in the year 1996, one year after Woods was born. Since then, the boxer has won countless boxing games. He won his first national Golden Gloves championship in 1993 and went on to win two more in 1994 and 1996. Mayweather’s amateur career saw him win a bronze medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Dr. Huberman also chipped in, on the conversation and said, “Their nervous system was shaped in fighting the same way Tiger Woods’s nervous system was shaped in golfing”. Can’t argue with that. Having turned pro in 1996, Mayweather won his first world title in 1998 where he defeated Genaro Hernandez for the WBC super featherweight championship. He also won the IBF welterweight title from Zab Judah in 2006 which helped him become a four-division world champion. And as for Tiger Woods, everyone knows what a great golfer Woods is and his 82 PGA Tour wins and 15 major wins are examples enough.

Apart from his obvious victories on the greens, Woods was also the number one golfer in the world from August 8, 1999, to August 29, 2004, which is 264 weeks, and again from December 6, 2005, to October 24, 2010, which is 281 weeks. The two athletes are not only amazing players in their fields, but they are also two savvy businessmen.
