Out of the two, Oscar MacIntyre is the older brother, born on 21st December 2004, and is only 19 years old. His younger brother, Jacob, was born after almost 13 months on 29th January 2006. While nothing is known about Oscar’s love life, the younger brother has posted several photos of his girlfriend on Instagram. Along with his girlfriend Keira Small, Jacob likes to go to dinners, have a chill time in the pool and even go on a yacht to enjoy the ocean. Last year the couple also spent Halloween together along with carved-out pumpkins.

Born of extremely proud parents, Stephanie and Boyd MacIntyre, the two brothers honed their soccer skills from a young age. Oscar MacIntyre also learned how to drive and ultimately helped their parents with the brothers’ commute to practice. In the meantime, Boyd MacIntyre once revealed he almost felt he worked at the Hibernian Training Centre. Mostly because both the sons were always at practice.

He reflected, “Things got a little easier when they eventually trained and played the majority of their football together and after they both signed professionally it wasn’t long before Oscar started driving, so it was just games from then on.”

Oscar and Jacob MacIntyre’s transition into professional careers

Jacob was only 9 when he first joined the Hibernian Football Club. His older brother, however, joined much later, at the age of 14. Oscar played for the Spartans in 2019 until he moved forward in his career with the Hibernian youth academy that year and was there till 2022. On the other hand, Oscar MacIntyre made his first-team debut with the Hibs in the final game of the 2021 season. He played in the final 13 minutes of the 4-0 victory over St Johnstone.

Have an interesting take?

As for the younger brother, he made his first debut only a few months ago in March 2024. He was part of the winning team in a 3-0 win, in the Scottish Premiership against Livingston F.C.

Displaying his skills all around the pitch, Jacob MacIntyre plays as an all-action midfielder for the Hibs. Last year in the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League, he was named among the first-team match-day substitutes. His elder brother is at present a left-back at Queen of the South. He was sent out as a loan in 2023. Once again this year, he was loaned out to Annan Athletic and has been assured to stay there until the end of the 2023-24 season.

Yet, Jacob felt that his midfielder position was nothing but an accident. He confessed, “I started off playing as a striker, then right-wing back, and then right center-back. We were playing a game against Hamilton and incredibly all of our midfielders got injured so I went in there for the final 20 minutes. I must’ve done really well because that is where I have been ever since.”

On the flip-side, Oscar always knew his calling for the left-back. He revealed, “I’ve always been a left-back. Even when I played for the Lasswade school team when we won the league title, league cup, and reached the Scottish Cup semi-final, I played in that position.”

Oscar and Jacob MacIntyre on rejection

Yes, both the brothers faced rejection early on in their youth careers. It began with Jacob’s rejection from the Hearts and then Oscar’s initial rejection from the Hibs itself. The younger brother once revealed in Edinburgh News, “When I was around nine I went on a six-week trial with Hearts and after only three weeks they told me I was not good enough. I didn’t really let the rejection from them get to me at the time because I was so young and simply went back to playing with my mates.” The soccer player added how he went on a six-week trial with the Hibs next and got selected.

Although Oscar was on trial, along with his younger brother, the soccer club rejected him. He later confessed how he truly felt at that moment. He said, “I was on trial at the same time as Jacob, but I didn’t get in. I was happy for Jacob, whilst obviously disappointed for myself. It was hard getting that knock-back, but it pushed me on and I realized I had to knuckle down and take football more seriously than I had been doing until then.” But the left-back did not lose hope. He went ahead with the Spartans and won the Scottish Cup. Later, the soccer player got into Hibs.
