Last year Sergio Garcia made a risky yet profitable move by changing tours. Choosing the newly formed LIV Golf over the traditional European Tour brought him harsh criticism from his old league, but he powered through with his future in his mind.
However, his bold move hasn’t been very rewarding on the green to Garcia who hasn’t shined brightly in the last several months. But forgetting his own woes, Garcia was full of praises for his country’s women’s soccer team who recently achieved a big milestone.

Garcia’s kind words must have boosted the spirits of the ladies who are gearing up for the biggest weekend. Spain’s soccer team will be facing England’s Lionesses in the final round on Sunday. Lionesses will be playing in the final for the first time. It was a sweet gesture on Garcia’s side while he struggles to maintain his old form.

So far his only consolation in his league is that he led his team to victory at the 2022 LIV Golf Bangkok event. But apart from that, no other win has fallen in his lap. Moreover, due to his move, he even had to give up his dream of playing at this year’s Ryder Cup, something he desired the most
The 2017 Masters winner didn’t live up to his previous record in the last year. Besides the loss of the Ryder Cup chance he also failed to make the cut at the British Open this year. This was the first time in 25 years that the Spanish player didn’t play at the Open Championship. Other than that, his run on the LIV events this year hasn’t been that great. At the LIV Tulsa, he finished at T23. His stat improved a little at Adelaide where he made it to T11. But at last weekend’s Bedminster, he again slipped down and finished at T30.
Despite his problems, it was great to see that him being a cheerleader for his people. Perhaps he will be celebrating his own win soon enough.
