The world of sports is huge. Each game has its own principles, royalties, rising stars, stories, and overall dynamics. However, still, there seems to be a connection between all of them. It is based on the virtues of sportsmanship, unity, upliftment, and empathy. Golf isn’t far from these sentiments as well. Time and again, various golfers and fans have proved how interconnected the games can be.

Now, there are numerous fronts on which these collaborations can take place. Sometimes it is in the form of support for a fellow athlete. Other times, it can take the shape of financial encouragement. In context to the latter, an expected investment might be on the way for Rickie Fowler and two of his fellow golfers.

Football as a sport has one of the largest fan following. Irrespective of the ethnicity, the grandeur of the game is unmatched. American golfer, Rickie Fowler, seems to agree with the same when he said, “You call it football over there, we call it soccer here, but it’s a massive sport. I feel like it’s continuing to get bigger in the States.”

And that stands true, the appreciation for the game, especially on regional levels, is growing tremendously. As per the tweet from Sky Sports News, this recognition just got bigger. Fowler informed the reporter that he, Justin Thomas, and Jordan Spieth are interested in moving toward a collaboration with $800 million LeedsUnited. It is one of the biggest British football clubs. Even though the golfers are not yet part of the club, their potential involvement might come along with the imminent takeover by the 49ers Enterprise.

This will, potentially, be one of the major sports crossovers. The star golfer was also asked about the involvement of experienced caddie and ardent Leeds fan, Billy Foster in the probable merger. He denied any such claims. Instead, Fowler added that Foster did not know from the beginning, only after the trio came to know he is a massive Leeds United supporter, did they inform the caddie of the possibility.

The American star has both options open for him as of now. If they get to be part of the franchise “it will be fun“, but even if they don’t, it won’t deter them from rooting for Leeds to see if they can lend a hand to Billy Foster. Currently, the Leeds franchise has been relegated to the Championship. It will require efforts to move forward to other leagues.

However, this fact has not discouraged Fowler from being excited about the game. He earnestly admitted that he hasn’t been to a football game. So, to be able to attend a Premier League game or the Champions League game would be an excellent start. It will allow him to feel that on-ground energy and bud true appreciation for the game.

Given all the news about investing and collaborations that is coming forth in the golf world, one cannot sideline the most recent billion-dollar golf union.

The biggest merger worth billions in the history of golf

These announcements of investment in big franchises from professional golfers are exciting and even fruitful to uplift the game. However, there is one more merger that recently shook the golf world as it was made public. Arguably, there will be no one in the golf ecosystem who is not aware of the golden collation between the PGA Tour, DP Tour, and the Saudi-backed PIF. This is the same financial body that currently supports LIV Golf, the rival of the PGA Tour.

As the news brought with it many speculations, numerous questions are still left unanswered. Although, PGA Tour Commissioner conveyed that the merger will unify the game. Simply put, it will stop the divide that has been experienced by men’s professional golf for over a year now. However, only time will tell how everything will pay out.

This billion-dollar union still has a long way to go in terms of litigation. Once, those areas are covered, a new era of golf will evolve. Till that gets going after the completion of the 2023 season, we will try to enjoy the upcoming exciting tournaments. One such event kicks off in less than three hours from the heart of Beverly Hills.
