In a heartfelt announcement, NFL legend Tom Brady confirmed his retirement. With an era coming to an end, the world has been sending out kind words Brady’s way, be it the fans or the fellow athletes. Golf legend Jack Nicklaus – who retired back in 2005 – recently reached out to Brady on social media.
Nicklaus himself is considered one of the greatest to ever play golf, helping revolutionize the game along with Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. His praiseworthy words for Brady seem to be another celebration of the latter’s illustrious career, which will be a benchmark for many to come.

Jack Nicklaus celebrates Brady and his retirement through a heartfelt post
Through his post, it was clear that Nicklaus’ feelings towards Brady’s departure are bittersweet. However, Brady has retired while he is healthy; and everyone, including Nicklaus, agree that this is better than being forced to retire (because of an injury or otherwise).

Of course, just parting ways with a sport that has been your life for years can be unimaginably difficult. Moreover, no one, just like Nicklaus, wants to see a legendary athlete walk away.

“I have always respected and appreciated tremendous competitors, and those driven by the pursuit of excellence,” Nicklaus wrote. “Always self-motivated, Tom had a remarkable career”. It goes without saying that Nicklaus signaled towards his years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well, and not just his time with the New England Patriots.

Brady’s unbelievable career encompasses seven Super Bowl titles, more than any one franchise combined. The last of his titles was with the Bucs, a feat few had faith in. But Brady played on and concluded his 22-season career in style. He has an all-time record of 84,520 passing yards, having completed 7263 of his 11317 attempts. Out of these, 624 were in the end zone, and 203 were interceptions.
The 44-year-old also has a record 15 Pro Bowl selections, along with three 1st-Team All-Pro selections.

Does Nicklaus believe Tom Brady is the best?
Brady’s achievements alone make him the greatest, something which Nicklaus agrees with. “In my opinion, Tom Brady is the best there ever was,” he added, reminding everyone that he is saying this as an Ohio State Buckeyes guy.
In the end, he wished Brady well for his future. “Congratulations, Tom, on a truly great career!”.

Fans loved Nicklaus’ note, most sharing his sentiments. After all, Nicklaus himself leads the PGA Tour with all-time 18 major wins. His relentless pursuit of the win helped changed the tour’s course, making it what it is today. Even if they are two vastly different games and eras, the amount of influence they both carry is unrefutable.
