NFL and golf are two of the most popular sport in the USA, and fans love watching their players in action. Phil Mickelson is a pro golfer loved by many, and he had a tremendous response to the NFL protest in 2017. NFL players protested strongly ahead of a game on the field. They kneeled during the National Anthem in defiance of former POTUS Donald Trump.

Racial injustice was at a critical stage in the USA during 2017, and everyone witnessed the protest by the NFL team. Patrick asked Mickelson about his reaction to the protest, and his reply was wrapped around his love for his country.
The Major championship winner believed there was social justice and as the country’s residents, everyone should strive to fight against it. However, he was grateful for all the opportunities he received from his country as a golf player.
He said, “this week, I am so proud to represent my country, to be so appreciative of all the opportunities this great country has given me.” He was thankful that he got to play golf for a living, and nothing could be greater than that for him. Golfing was the best thing he could ever imagine doing out of love for the sport.

However, he was ultimately against the social injustice continuing in the country. The pro said, “we should all strive to eliminate social injustice.” He said they had made many improvements, and the people had come a long way. Every resident has overcome a lot and has achieved too. But there was room for improvement, and everyone must strive to make things better in society.

Why did the NFL team protest in 2017?
The protest by the NFL team in 2017 was done against the social injustice in the country. The racism and police violence against Africa- Americans increased, and the demurral started in 2016. Colin Kaepernick, the backup quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, was the first to kneel during National Anthem.
In 2017, Oakland Raiders kneeled during the National Anthem along with other NFL teams. It became the topic of discussion in the sports industry.
