Brooks Koepka is one of the biggest names to play on LIV Golf, along with a few others such as Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Bryson DeChambeau, and others. When the league was announced, it took the entire golf world by storm, and these players left their PGA Tour legacy behind to play for the backway league. Among other PGA Tour loyalists, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy were the ones who seemed to have been affected the most by the defection and had said a lot of things for the players in the past. However, despite the backlash, the LIV golfers feel very content with their move in terms of better money, better hours, and a better schedule.

But a lot of comparisons have been drawn amongst LIV golfers and PGA Tour players as to how formers’ games have deteriorated as they do not play ‘actual golf.’ People often take a jibe at LIV Golf for its distinctive format and claim that golfers who play in a Saudi-funded league will have a hard time playing actual golf that has four rounds. Well, with all the unhinged opinions and other trouble in LIV Golf’s way, a question pops up: Will LIV’s frontman, Brooks Koepka’, ever be able to match Tiger Woods’ stellar major record?

Two names that come to every golf fan’s mind when it comes to discussing illustrious major records are Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. The Golden Bear has won 18 major tournaments in his decorative career, and right behind him is the GOAT Tiger Woods, with 15 majors to his name. Every golfer has the wish to win a maximum number of majors and to hunt Nicklaus’ and Woods’ records, but it isn’t that easy! Well, if the golfers are unable to hunt the record, at least they can aim to get behind them in statistics.

One such golfer who wishes to do so is none other than LIV’s own, Brooksie. He defected from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf for a contract that expands until 2025 and is worth $100 million. Ever since his departure, his journey has been nothing less than a tricky roller coaster. During the inaugural season, he won a single event in Jeddah, and in 2023, during the second season, he won twice in the league.

His first win was in Orlando, and his second was in Jeddah, just recently, where the ‘daddy defender’ successfully defended his Jeddah crown and won $8 million. His hefty heroics proved that he is one of the most skilled golfers out there!

Not only in the LIV tournaments, but Koepka shocked everyone when he won his fifth major title, the 2023 PGA Championship, and became the first LIV golfer to do so! His feat stunned everyone and, in a way, proved that LIV golfers know how to play real and actual golf. Not only in the PGA Championship, but during the first major of the season, the Masters, he skillfully finished tied for second place. Not only this, but he was also a part of the 2023 Ryder Cup team representing America and was again the only LIV golfer to be part of the prestigious tournament.

Koepka has 5 majors to his name, and to reach Woods, he will have to win 10 more and 16 to 1 up. That seems like a bit too far-fetched of a dream, but with golf being an unanticipated sport, nobody knows what may happen in the coming years. The golfer himself feels pretty confident about himself and has self-belief that he will indeed be able to hunt Nicklaus and Woods.

Koepka exudes confidence in himself

The 33-year-old is one of the greatest golfers of this generation because of all the hardships he has been through during his career and how beautifully he has bounced back from them. Koepka has borne the pain of a lot of injuries, such as a torn patella tendon in 2019, a hip injury in 2020, and a broken kneecap in 2021. Back in 2021, the golfer exuded tremendous confidence in himself and mentioned that he could easily top Nicklaus and Woods if he won just one major every year he had left in the game. He calculated and mentioned that he was 31 years old at that time and at least had 14 years left of playing actively, so that would probably give him 14 more majors. mentioning that some people might perceive this as overconfidence or him being “cocky,” but the golfer simply regarded it as his belief in himself.

Although LIV golfers get a chance to play in the major tournaments if they qualify as per the criteria, on the contrary, with the latest OWGR snub, it would be hard for them to qualify and compete. The road for Koepka will be harder in the future, but with his enthusiasm and zest, he might be able to come close to GOAT’s stellar record.
