The season’s first team event, i.e., the Zurich Classic, featuring the unique fourball in the first and third rounds and foursome in the second and fourth rounds, is here. The fans are going to witness a pure golfing delight apart from the individual events that teed off at the beginning of the season. With the defending champions joining the roster, the hype for the event is already at its peak. Rory McIlroy has shown his dominance with three victories already in the season, including the long-awaited major win for claiming the career grand slam and a major victory after a decade. While his partner, Shane Lowry, has notable top-10 finishes, including runner-up at the AT&T Pebble Beach and seventh place at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

However, not just the reigning champions, but the performance at the tournament of other teams is what has impressed the fans, leaving the reigning champions placed at T16. Now, after two rounds at the Zurich Classic, we are down to the top 33 teams from the 80-team roster who will be competing for their share in the grand purse of $9.2 million.

The winner will get a whopping increase of $1.3 million, while the 33rd-placed team will get the minimum increase of $19,688. Till the 11 place, teams will earn more than $108,100, while below that, the team will keep decreasing subsequently to $19,000.

Now, with the top names showcasing the best of their skills and record low, it will be interesting to see how the final two rounds will turn out. After the rookie PGA Tour professionals’ performance, they are still in a strong lead.

Zurich Classic record low

After the first round, Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard tied for the record low for some time, with their score of 13 under, 59. However, it didn’t stay for long as the record was then taken over by the rookie team of the PGA Tour professional. Isaiah Salinda and Kevin Velo, who are paired together, set the new record at the Zurich Classic.

The rookie team scored under 14, 58, to set the new record low in the score. The team recorded 12 birdies and one eagle to set the record low. Even the team has continued to stay in the lead in the second round despite scoring two bogeys. Salinda and Velo scored 5 birdies and two bogeys to end the round with 3 under, 69. However, they are still in the lead with one stroke over the second-placed Andrew Novak, Ben Griffin, and the third-placed Nicolai Hojgaard, Rasmus Hojgaard.

Now, with the close competition and players setting new records, the final two days at the event are going to be filled with adrenaline for the fans.
