This week PGA Tour is hosting the Zozo Championship in Japan. Started in 2019, this is the fifth edition of the event and will be held free of all the pandemic restrictions. In the last 4 years, big names of the Tour have taken the trophy home like Tiger Woods, Keegan Bradley and Hideki Matsuyama.
The event will be hosted at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan from 19 to 22 October in association with the Japan Golf Tour Organization. Keegan Bradley will be stepping on the course as the defending champion. Let’s take a look at what the prize purse is for the event.
What will the winner get at the Zozo Championship?

The prize purse for this Japanese Championship is pretty big at $8.5 million. It’s a no-cut event. The winner gets an 18% share of the total prize money. All 78 players in the field will get the amount out of the purse.
This is the fourth event in the FedExCup Fall schedule. The other benefits will be the same as the Regular Season tournaments. Along with the first prize of $1.53 million other perks like 500 FedExCup points, and spots in The Players and The Sentry also await the winner. The winner will also get an entry into those major championships that invite Tour winners.
Top players like Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, and Collin Morikawa will be playing their first event since the Ryder Cup. Min Woo Lee, Akshay Bhatia, and others will also be gracing the course. The field includes the top 60 available PGA Tour players from the previous season’s FedEx Cup standings, the top 7 players in the current season of the Japan Golf Tour money list from the Bridgestone Open, the top 3 players in the Bridgestone Open and 8 sponsor exemptions.
With the players engaging in intense fighting to secure a spot for the 2024 PGA season, the match promises to be a visual delight. American fans could enjoy it on television and streaming services from home. Now let’s take a look at what the players will take home.
