Golf can be an unusual sport at times. No two golf courses in the world are completely identical. Players have to overcome unique challenges from sand traps to ponds to a line of trees at every hole they play.
Despite its fairly technical nature, sometimes the tactics used by players can be extremely mystifying, to say the least. However, this time, a golfer at the Mexico Open may have gone a bit too far with his training. Or is this new trick going to help him win? Let’s find out!

Every now and then, golf fans will come across a video or two that will completely befuddle them. From Joaquin Niemann’s ‘beach ball’ technique to Tony Finau’s ’tin cup’ contraption, they have truly seen it all.
Golf enthusiasts were in for yet another surprise, thanks to a player’s warm-up video from the Mexico Open. The golfer in question is Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti, who is playing on Sponsor’s exemption this week. Ahead of his second round at the Vidanta Vallarta, cameras caught the 444th-ranked golfer doing a bizarre eye warm-up on the field.

In a video shared by PGA Tour Live on Twitter, however, an analyst can be heard saying that Tosti was training his eyes to focus. He even brought up Michael Campbell’s similar warm-up routine from the 2005 U.S. Open. Regardless, the Argentinian’s training is unlike anything anyone has ever seen, given all the little symbols on his stick.

Fans couldn’t help but react to the viral clip on Twitter. PGA Tour’s Michael Kim, who is also competing at the Mexico Open this week, also chimed in to express his surprise over the method.

Even the most avid golf fans were caught by surprise when they came across Tosti’s training technique at the 2023 Mexico Open. 2018 John Deere Classic winner and PGA Tour golfer, Michael Kim, shared that he had “zero idea” about this unique tactic. Meanwhile, one golf fan may have gotten it somewhat right, asking if it was a “stretching” exercise for the eyes.
As a professional golfer, I truly have zero idea what the purpose is and what value this may provide

Meanwhile, others had hilarious reactions to the clip. One even said that the training resembled someone “trying to get the key in the door” after a few drinks. Some wondered whether he was taking a “sobriety” test on the course.
