Tiger Woods is one of the most successful professional golfers in the world. He has won over 100 titles, including 15 majors and 18 World Gold Championships. However, like everyone else, there was a period when he didn’t win any tournament for years. And that made his good friend and NBA legend, Michael Jordan, doubt his ability as a great golfer.
“The thing is,” Jordan said about Woods. “That I can’t tell him, ‘You’re not gonna be great again.” The legendary player of the Chicago Bulls revealed the same to ESPN for its story about the golf legend ‘The Secret History of Tiger Woods’ published in 2016.

Notably, the 15-time major champion faced multiple injuries since 2010, which caused him to miss many tournaments, including majors. A series of knee injuries and back problems made him withdraw from many events and finish poorly in the events he attended. And MJ worried that Woods would never be able to get back his status of the G.O.A.T. of golf again.
Jordan thought his friend wanted to retire from golf!
“I think he’s tired,” MJ said about Woods. “I think he really wishes he could retire, but he doesn’t know how to do it yet.”

Woods had won more than 35 titles from 2000 to 2007. But, he could only win eight championships from 2010 to 2007. In fact, he didn’t win any events from 2014 to 2016, and Jordan believed Woods didn’t want to retire when his performance was lacking. “If he could win a major and walk away,” MJ further added. “He would (retire), I think.”

Although he struggled because of his injuries, Tiger Woods kept on doing what he loved to do most: playing golf. With his determination and hard work, he has won three more tournaments since 2016, including a Major.
He won the Masters Tournament in 2019. Notably, he faced a neck strain the previous month that led him to withdraw from the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Furthermore, even after being in a deadly accident in 2021, Woods made a comeback at the 2022 Masters. Although he is still healing from his injuries, he has played three official Tournaments this season.

Woods has dedicated his life to golf and is passionate about it, even when he has been facing many problems along the way. His good friend MJ thought his career was over years ago. Yet, Woods still stands tall as one of the greatest in the sport!
