Can Pat Perez bounce back on the course while his family faces such tough personal battles?

Eight years after exchanging vows on New Year’s Eve in 2015, Ashley and Pat Perez’s marriage came to an abrupt end in November 2023. Ashley Perez filed for divorce from the LIV golfer. But amidst the chaos, the mother of two has found solace in her greatest priority: her children

Recently, Ashley Perez took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message, offering a rare glimpse into the challenges of raising their 3-year-old son Paxton. Paxton was born in August 2021. The golfer was not there for his son’s birth as he was playing for a spot in the FedExCup playoffs that year.

Ashley acknowledged the unknown difficulties Paxton faced from the start, saying, “My beautiful little boy, Paxton, I want to take a moment to express how deeply sorry I am for the challenges you faced during your entrance into this world. Yet, every day I am filled with gratitude that you are okay. It’s a bittersweet journey, but I believe that our experience was meant to guide me toward a greater purpose.”

Per their consent, it appears as though the pair will legally part ways with one another. However, another challenge looms on the horizon. One that threatens to derail his 2025 LIV golf season is the well-documented risk of relegation. To avoid that, he needs to be in the top 48 players in the Saudi-backed league. Currently teetering on the edge at 48th position, he acknowledged his subpar performance. “I’ve played terrible this year,” he admitted, citing the turmoil in his personal life as a contributing factor. He added, “When I’m home, I have a lot of stuff going on, so I haven’t practiced as much. I have the two  kids. I don’t have all day to go practice, and then it’s 1,000 degrees on top of it. I haven’t had the clearest mind, to be honest. Hopefully, I make it to next year. I’d love to get a fresh start and try again.”

Now, as he searches for his game on the driving range, Perez can’t help but describe this year as a “nightmare.” But will he be able to turn his fortunes around, or will the double blow prove too much to overcome?
