Tiger Woods was the most dominant golfer between 2000 to 2010. He was at his peak and won the majority of his trophies in this decade. Moreover, he had Steve Williams on the bag till 2011, and their duo was incredible on the PGA Tour. However, there is a funny incident from 2006 that leaves them laughing. 

Woods was part of the 2006 Ryder Cup that took place in Ireland. That year, the United States side got crushed by the Europeans. Meanwhile, Tiger gave three points from his five matches, but a funny incident involving his 9-iron brought smiles and made the event memorable.

“So it’s a par-3, a green that has all water to the front of it and to the right of it,” said Steve.“And I’m leaning on Tiger’s club, he’s up there putting, and I’m leaning on this club, and I slip, and I’ve either got to let me go in the water or the club, so I let the club go.”

Hence, the 9-iron that Tiger was using went inside the water. However, Woods did not notice this, and he completed his putt and started walking toward the next hole. 

How did Tiger Woods react to this incident?

Steve revealed how did Tiger Woods react when he got to know about this incident. “We go to the next hole. I believe he was playing with Jim Furyk, Tiger’s going to hit his second shot, and it’s the bloody 9-iron. And I’m thinking, ‘I just can’t give him the yardage for an-8 or a wedge; it’s a 9, I can’t deviate this one.”

Moreover, Tiger went to get his 9-iron from the bag and was surprised as it was not visible. “Where’s the 9-iron?” questioned Tiger. “And I said, ‘You know that lake back there?” revealed Williams. “You f***ing clown. Only you” Tiger said.

However, it was just an intuitive response as Tiger Woods and Steve Williams joked about this incident for many years. But unfortunately, the duo split in 2011, after which the 15-time major championship winner roped in his current caddie Joe LaCava.
