The Royal Liverpool Golf Course has been a problematic site for golfers throughout the weekend. Many players have struggled in the challenging conditions, which ensured that the scores kept low for the cut.
Among the players on tenterhooks was one-time major championship winner Bryson DeChambeau. Not bulked anymore, the 29-year-old clung on for the weekend at two-over par after the opening two rounds.
The LIV golfer was far from his best in several instances. Among those was a tee shot that landed among the onlookers, which put DeChambeau in a spot of bother.
Thankfully, the erratic hit wasn’t as dangerous as perceived. But later, famous YouTuber Rick Shiels, who was in attendance at Liverpool, claimed that he was struck by DeChambeau’s ball, with a hilarious photo confirming the news.
While Shiels didn’t reveal the severity of the blow, it seemed the least of any concerns after the British YouTuber reached out to DeChambeau after the day’s play.
Did DeChambeau yell ‘fore’ after his wayward shot?
Seeking an opportunity, Shiels messaged DeChambeau on Instagram, claiming that he was hit by the golfer’s ball. The 2020 US Open winner responded by claiming that he did try to warn him by yelling ‘fore’. “You didn’t listen,” it said. The snapshots of the conversation were posted by the YouTuber on social media.

Indeed, it turned out to be a comical moment between the duo. But the incident was all the funnier due to the duo’s past conversations.
As it happened, DeChambeau once sat with Shield to discuss why he didn’t yell ‘fore’ after a wayward shot. “Most of the time when we hit shots, if we don’t think it’s going to get there, there’s really no reason to say anything and most guys don’t on tour. You could, because of how far I’m hitting it, every single shot say ‘FORE’,” he claimed.
