It is news to no one how his outfits have become a social media sensation overnight. And that is exactly what happened at the 2024 Open Championship as well. 

Day isn’t afraid to express himself through his clothes, so much so that during the 2024 Masters, he was asked by the ANGC officials to remove his vest because of its loud design. Not only that, his outfit choice for the PGA Championship also faced the heat from the fans, who called his all-green fit a “dental hygienist” look. But as everyone knows, these outfits are the result of something he would’ve never expected! A viral video posted by NUCLR GOLF on X is attracting fans, showcasing Jason Day rocking another bold Malbon outfit. Although his golf game has been somewhat inconsistent, it’s clear that Day is doubling down on making a statement with his fashion choices. 

The opening round of The Open saw the golfer make a score of two over par with five bogeys and three birdies. He regained his footing in the second round, carding a respectable 3-under-68. In the third round on Saturday, he carded 5 overs. 

The outfit choice once again was not appreciated by fans, who took to the post’s comment section to share their honest thoughts about Day’s ensemble.

In the video posted on X, Day was seen wearing a set of beige sweatsuits, not an ideal choice for a golf tournament. And the fans were not one step behind to point that out. One fan hilariously said, “Saw his snowboard sticking out of his golf bag,” referring to the sweatsuit, which is more fitted for a fun round of snowboarding. 

While another fan said, “He’s getting more attention from these wacky outfits than ever before.” And well, it is true. Day has worn these bold fits to many events, and they have done the trick every time! For instance, the golfer wore what fans called ‘parachute pants’ in the opening round of the 2024 Masters. That’s not all. For the 2024 Memorial Tournament, he was seen wearing a pair of printed shorts that resembled swim trunks. 

“When I saw his outfit, I knew he’d be terrible today; you can’t golf in that!” said another user, addressing the obvious. The weather for the day was pleasant and was around 18 degrees, and to see Day playing in an outfit that looked like it would not help that weather seemed disturbing. Another fan referred to the outfit as “Sweat lodge attire.” 

Another fan took a jab at the golfer and said, “We have spotted the majestic and rarely seen snow leopard. What a marvelous creature. Oh wait, that Jason Day in hideous outerwear.” The fan hilariously compared the golfer to a snow leopard because of his almost white outfit. This is not the first time that Day has been called out for his outfit. This has been his new normal ever since he signed with Malbon Golf. 

With zero good performances and great players like Bryson DeChambeau and Tiger Woods missing the cut, the 2024 Open Championship has been undoubtedly disappointing for a few fans.
