Buying yourself a pricey gift after a Masters win may also be part of one of its many traditions. While it is unclear what expensive gift this year’s Green Jacket bought for himself, Patrick Reed, who won the Masters in 2018, spent around $450,000 on a luxurious car. Nonetheless, Reed’s costly possession is up for sale years after his big purchase in a bizarre state.
Since his pro debut in 2011, the LIV Golf star has been considered one of the promising talents. Reed lived up to the hype after claiming his first Major at the 2018 Masters with an impressive 15 under-par score.
A year after the biggest victory of his life, Reed decided to gift himself a Masters-themed Porsche. However, the ending for the automobile wasn’t as pleasant as the 2018 Masters was for the LIV Golf star.

Patrick Reed’s dream car in a nightmare state
In 2019, Reed spent $450,000 on a Porsche “Masters 911 GT2RS”, which he dreamt of driving across the Augusta National Golf Club’s entrance, Magnolia Lane while sporting the Green Jacket. Only 1000 limited editions of the car were reportedly made in the United States.

Following the 6-figure purchase, Reed further modified the car by painting it in the Masters green color, Pantone 342. The golfer even shared a snap of the car on his Instagram handle. Four years after fulfilling his dream purchase, Reed’s Porsche was listed on Copart, a car auction company that resells new, used, and salvaged cars.
The sports car had the same number plate as Patrick Reed’s Instagram post from 2019. However, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS was damaged all over instead of being in the same state. The pictures on Copart showed a destroyed front bumper, including damage on both sides and the roof. Moreover, the airbags have also been indicated to go off in an apparent crash.

With just 361 miles clocked on the car, it is unclear if it was Patrick Reed himself involved in a car crash. Though the golfer is yet to confirm if it’s his Masters purchase that has been auctioned, the damaged Porsche 911 GT2 RS has now been sold at an auction for $132,000.
Though Reed may give himself plenty of gifts in the foreseeable future, nothing can outshine the purchase after the first Major win. While he may have lost a $450,000 priced sports car, does Captain America have enough money to buy another Porsche?
What is the net worth of Patrick Reed?
Reed has been familiar with big cheques in his career. He has earned $37,065,581 from on course during his PGA Tour days, making him the 30th highest earner on the Tour. He currently holds an estimated net worth of $9 million according to Sportrac. However, that number will soon expand following Patrick Reed’s move to the Saudi-funded LIV Golf.

Though Reed’s signing bonus with LIV Golf is publicly undisclosed, he has reportedly signed a multi-million dollar deal. Moreover, Patrick Reed has already earned $14,722,714 on the course while competing at the LIV Golf. He also has endorsement deals with Nike, Titleist, Rolex, Mercedes-Benz, and others.
With a guaranteed cheque from the Saudi-funded Tour along with its exorbitant prize money, it is quite evident the 2018 Masters winner has enough money to buy another supercar. Though he’s got the money, can Patrick Reed add another Green Jacket to the trophy cabinet?
