Our elders have always instructed us that digging into the painful past brings no happiness. But like everything, this statement also has an exception, and Brooks Koepka has proved it. The 2018 Ryder Cup received more media attention for the feud between Koepka and Dustin Johnson than the victory of the European team. Every fan noted the sudden eruption of peace when both the LIV defectors came face to face and had a heated conversation. However, after all these years, Koepka has decided to put an end to this once and for all.

Brooks Koepka clears the air on the infamous Dustin Johnson feud

Ahead of the first LIV Golf event of the 2023 season, Koepka indulged in a quick Q&A session on Instagram of Smash GC. He posted the video answering the questions on his Instagram story. One of his followers asked, “can you explain the apparent scuffle between you and DJ in 2018? Are y’all friends?” While this question might bring some bad memories for the 2018 USA team, it made the former number-one golfer laugh.

The LIV defector clarified and said, “We were just horsing around, messing around. We were in the European team room. We were just having fun.” He backed up his claims by mentioning the Paris trip, saying, “We actually went out in Paris later that night, so there was a scuffle. It wasn’t too bad. We’re just horsing around.” The 2018 CJ Cup winner also said that this is what guys do. They horse around and have fun. DJ and Koepka even play golf together, as claimed by the pro. When they both return home, they spend time together and hang out like friends. And not just that, the Smash GC captain believes that Johnson would say the same thing.

We can believe that no heated argument became a problem between the pros. But if we walk back in time, their feud was one of the most discussed topics of the 2018 golf world. According to FOX Sports, the 2020 Masters winner felt Koepka was getting too close to his fiancee, Paulina Gretzky. He was trying to comfort her about their relationship issues, and DJ believed he crossed a line. However, it caused their argument and tore apart the USA team. It is believed that the USA team lost their unity after their feud, which was why they lost that year.
