Last time, the Solheim Cup took place in Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio where Europe emerged victorious. But on the first day, there was a huge controversy during the foursome match between both teams. Nelly Korda and Ally Ewing were playing Koerstz-Madsen and Madelene Sagstrom.

After Korda’s putt rested agonizingly above the hole, Sagstrom picked it up and threw it back to Korda in order to speed things up. But soon a rules official accused Sagstrom of not following the 10-second rule which split the internet. This year Sagstrom will again be playing in the event.

And ahead of her appearance, she played a fun Q and A round on Instagram. She was asked multiple questions, and she was up to the task. However, when she described herself in one word as “weird”, the Q&A reached another level. Fans were charmed, to say the least.

Sagstrom is a strong opponent from the European side and projects a major threat. Her controversial move of not following the 10-second rule created quite a mess last time. Let’s find out more about the incident.

What is the ten-second rule and how it impacted the Solheim Cup?

According to the 10-second rule, an overhanging ball should be given ten seconds to drop into the hole. This happened in the Solheim Cup on the 13th hole when Korda’s impressive putt didn’t go in and Sagstrom threw it back to her. Since Nelly didn’t make the putt, the hole was tied between the teams. But according to the rules official, Korda’s ball was hanging on the hole and Sagstrom didn’t follow the mandatory rule. Finally, it was considered to be over-hanging which created much controversy on the internet. Korda and her partner eventually won the contest by a single hole.
