John Daly, known for hitting long off the tee, might not have any controversies on the greens. But, when it comes to him as a personality, the picture is rather blurry. His health and lifestyle choices as a golfer have always been questionable, smoking cigarettes and also appearing drunk during rounds of golf. This has naturally kept him out of shape. Now, while this should be something that should not come as inspiration, it turns out that the 2024 PGA Championship, Xander Schauffele, has chosen to celebrate in Daly-esuqe fashion.

Closing the final round of the PGA Championship with a 6-foot birdie putt, Xander Schauffele held off Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke, and won his first career major! By scoring a 21-under-par, his score became the lowest in the history of men’s major, and also the fact that he carded 25 birdies, marks it to be the most at Valhalla!

This of course calls for an over-the-top celebration, and Schauffele left no stone unturned to do that. He took to his official Instagram account and shared a series of pictures after the celebration. In the first and second pictures, just like John Daly, he, and his caddie Austin Kaiser were seen drinking out of the  Wanamaker trophy, which he had recently won!

The third picture was of him smoking a cigar, and enjoying it! To this, he wrote, “Cigar Xander is back 🏆”. As stated by him, during the post-celebration, someone handed him the cigar, and even though he was not certain of what it was, it felt nice!

Watching Xander Schauffele celebrate his win in such a wild, yet intimate manner, left the entire golf community baffled. They not only congratulated him on his win but also loved his style!

The Golf World predicts the next US Open Winner

Xander Schauffele turned out to be among the unexpected players to take away the win. But it is needless to say that his form has been top-notch ever since the opening round at Valhalla. He went completely bogey-free, which was followed by just two bogeys and one double bogey, combining all the next three rounds.

Although he won just by one stroke, the field presence was a great one. Taking to this, people left comments like, “Amazing, Xander!” and “Congrats @xanderschauffele !! So stoked for you!! Well deserved!”

The praises did not just stop till his performance at the PGA Championship. Having won his first Major championship in life, the golf community thinks that Xandr Schaufffele is going to be on a spree. With another Major, US Open around the corner, they believe that Schauffele has his chances of stealing the show there as well. Taking to this, one of them wrote, “X is about to win the US Open 👀”.

While another hinted at how he must already be in preparation to grab the win, and that’s what the celebration is also about. They wrote, “My man was SMOKING that stogey with a purpose”.

However, not all the comments were about his performance. Some of them could not overlook the happiness Schauffele had on his face while celebrating his. victory. They left comments like, “The aura is through the roof”.

Some of them even laughed at the size of the trophy that he was drinking from. The Wanamaker trophy is a 27-pound trophy. It is also regarded to be one of the heaviest in the professional field of golf. Taking to this, one of them stated the obvious and said, “Looks heavy 😂😂”.

While another, making fun of his caddie Austin Kaiser, looks exceptionally tiny in front of the massive trophy. One of them wrote, “The trophy is bigger than @austin_kaiser”.

Winning the PGA Championship did indeed turn out to be a huge turnover in the professional career of Xander Schauffele. With 12 top-10 finishes in the major championships since 2017, he finally reaped the fruit of his dedication. He now has a silver Wanamaker Trophy to pair with his Olympic gold medal. But the question is, will he truly be able to add another feather to his cap? That is yet to find out!
