Injuries have somewhat ruined the event and the expectations of the fans. With earlier world no.1, Scottie Scheffler withdrew his name for the Sentry 2025 because of the cut on his hand during the Christmas celebration. Now, it’s the world no. 2 who joined in with his injury. Xander Schauffele‘s great skill was expected to be on display this year at the Farmers Insurance Open, following his strong 2024 season and respectable T30 finish at the Sentry 2025.
However, his recent withdrawal from the event and no participation in the American Express raised doubts about a looming league switch. Debunking all the rumors and, as shared by his manager earlier, the withdrawal was a medical reason. There has been a new update on the same.
Sharing further details about the injury of Schauffele, Todd Lewis, a Golf Channel, and NBC anchor, shared a post on X writing, “World #2 @XSchauffele has been bothered with a right rib injury since late last year. It is not skeletal but instead soft tissue. Played through the issue at @TheSentry but resting now and not making any full swings. Not playing the hometown event this week. Uncertain about @attproam.”

The news of his withdrawal was a shocking one, as since 2015, he has been playing in his hometown event. Even though his best-recorded finish was in 2021, where he was runner-up. This points to some other events that are missing Schauffele’s name.
Other events which Xander Schauffele might miss due to injury
The 2-time major champion had an injury-free 2024, but not for long, it seems. In 2023, he withdrew from the Sentry due to a back injury. Now with injury in the right rib, the golfer has already opted out from two events, and there is a surety for him not featuring at the next TGL event too. Schauffele, who is part of the New York Golf Club, will not be available for the match teeing off on January 22. Even for confirmation, the team roster included Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, and Cameron Young, not the world no.2.

Other than this, the American professional’s participation in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is also uncertain as the details about the injury are not shared. Considering the information shared as per the post on X, it will surely require some time to recover. Additionally, following the Pro-Am event, the Phoenix Open is teeing off on February 6th and the Genesis Open teeing off on February 13th is also at stake.
The golfer had one of the best years of his career, but now fans can only hope and pray for his speedy recovery so that he can achieve his career grand slam.
