Additionally, golf is growing on social media, largely thanks to content producers like Paige Spiranac. But this season, fans are missing the Tiger’ of golf.

Tiger Woods is undoubtedly, one of the most recognizable faces in golf. His performance has been so great that it has set a standard for many aspiring young athletes. His record is unlikely to be matched with his 82 PGA Tour victories to his credit. Yes, there is still a lot of room for growth in his career. But the legend never quite gets over something from the past, and that definitely irks him. Let’s find out!

Tiger Woods talks about his 1992 opening shot

Before going into a hiatus, Woods played in the Genesis Invitational, where he finished T-45. After the game, he had an interview with CBS’ Amanda Renner. There, they discussed his opening tee shot in the 1992 Los Angeles Open. In that game, he shot 72-75 but eventually failed to make the cut. But 16-year-old Woods’ tee shot is the one that got the current 47-year-old Woods’ attention. 31 years later, the golf legend still struggles to move past one error.

Woods was unhappy when he saw his shot. He claimed that he made the terrible error of keeping his credential badge in his left pocket. “That was a terrible mistake. If you look at that, I had my credential badge in my left-front pocket. I mean, look at that thing,” said Woods.

He also stated that this was all new to him. Coming from high school to the PGA Tour required a huge adjustment, especially mentally. “This was out of my comfort zone, obviously. To go from high school to this [the PGA Tour],” Tiger said.

At the Bay Hill Club in Florida’s Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2001, spectators saw the two of them engage in an intense battle. NUCLR GOLF shared the throwback video on Twitter.

Woods’ error on the 18th hole caused Mickelson to be picked as the winner, But Woods quickly bounced back and shot a 5-iron from 195 yards out to within 15 feet of the cup, moving forward with a birdie to claim victory.

Although the golf GOAT might point out errors from earlier games, these games laid the solid foundation of his grand legacy.
