Tiger Woods is a golf legend. Woods made it into the Golf Digest just at the age of 5. With his excellent techniques and skills, success followed him wherever he went.

The 15-time major champion got into a car accident on the 23rd of February 2021. He had many serious injuries, which left everyone wondering about his future in the game.

Even though he nearly lost his leg, he never lost hope. He got better and came back on the field to play. Although now his injuries don’t allow him to play as aggressively. His full fledged comeback has been anticipated for long now. Will Woods be back soon? Let’s find out.

Will Tiger Woods play in the Ryder Cup?

The US Ryder Cup team will compete this year in Europe for the win. Woods is a part of the team, but whether he will qualify for a spot or not will depend on how well his injuries will allow him to perform.

Zach Johnson, The US team captain, has complete faith in Woods. He believes that Woods is invested in the betterment of the team and would make the right decision on whether to participate or not. “I can’t speak to that enough. And then I think you would do anything and everything for the betterment of the team. I assume he would say—I don’t like making assumptions—but I’m confident that he would say, ‘Yeah, I can play, or no, I can’t,’” he said.

Johnson has worked as a vice president of the US team under Woods during the 2019 Presidents Cup. 

He will ask Woods to join the team if he feels his performance is up to the mark and also he would like to discuss it with all the members of the team too. “I would only contemplate having him on the team if he felt … if he was putting up some numbers and some scores, No. 1, showing some sign of being competitive. And then No. 2, that discussion would be had with the other guys that are a part of that team, and specifically him,” Johnson said.

Woods’ injuries are taking a toll on his career

Plantar fasciitis, a condition that makes walking difficult, forced Woods had to withdraw from the Hero World Challenge. He also revealed that he has undergone a few more surgeries to better the functioning of his leg.

He participated in the PNC Championship with his son. Woods competed alongside Rory McIlroy in a 12-hole exhibition match, which they lost to Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.

Whether he will be back to play competitive golf or not still remains uncertain to an extent. But his fans are waiting patiently for their hero to comeback to the field with a bang…just like the old days.
