Golf is one of those sports where women’s leagues are thriving. However, in terms of sponsorship, coverage, and facilities, the LPGA is behind the PGA Tour. And this was pretty evident during the biennial events as well.

Many golfers know about these issues and are advocating for more equality in the golf fraternity. Due to this, numerous changes are also being made to help women’s golf catch up with its male counterpart in terms of popularity. However, there is still a long way to go. And this English golfer has offered ideas for improving the women’s game.

This September was one of the busiest weeks in golf. Both the esteemed Solheim Cup and Ryder Cup were back to back to enthrall the audiences. Both events constituted the fiercest competition in the female and male categories, respectively, but there were still so many differences between them.

Compared to the Solheim Cup, the Ryder Cup received far more media coverage. Even US Captain Stacy Lewis agreed that a joint marketing campaign for the two was a squandered opportunity. And now there are additional LPGA events coming up, Solheim Cup star Georgia Hall gave two suggestions to elevate the women’s leagues.

For Hall, proper coverage at proper hours and many mixed events would lift the women’s league more. “I think more media coverage, that’s number one, especially in the UK when we have the AIG Women’s Open,” said Hall. “I think it would be great if we can be shown more, at proper hours, not at midnight. And also I’d love to see a team event – a proper full-field men and women’s team event playing together.”

Well, it would definitely help the women’s circuit grow more. During the Solheim Cup, another star made an enticing offer to the PGA Tour.

Collaboration would make golf more fun

Angel Yin got the chance for the first time to represent America in a patriotic dream. Although Team US snubbed the victory, it was a great opportunity for Yin to learn and prepare for more.

But during those days, Yin also gave the PGA Tour some words of wisdom, saying that if the LPGA Tour and the PGA Tour collaborate, viewers will be more enthralled. “It would be very cool for the LPGA and the PGA to do something together,” Yin said. “If there was any collaboration, it would be very cool for the game, for golf,” added Yin.

These are some excellent ideas put up by these young ladies, but the women’s league still has a long way to go before it can compete with those well-established men’s leagues in terms of prize money, greater coverage, and facilities.
