The Solheim Cup has come to a close, with Team Europe successfully retaining their trophy. The 18th edition of the competition showcased outstanding gameplay from both teams. With the Americans initially dominating and the Europeans mounting a remarkable comeback, it was undoubtedly a thrilling spectacle to witness.
Although the game resulted in a tie, the Solheim Cup rules dictate that the previous winner still holds onto the trophy. Some supporters of Team US were unhappy with this rule and proposed a new format. Let’s see what they come up with!

Team Europe has secured their third consecutive victory in the Solheim Cup, maintaining possession of the prestigious trophy. The opening day saw the Americans dominate with a 4-0 victory in the foursomes, but Pettersen’s squad made a swift comeback, ending the day with a score of 5-3 in their favor. The following day proved to be a challenge for both teams, resulting in an 8-8 tie. However, Team Europe displayed their strength and determination throughout the competition.
The singles match was intense, tied neck-to-neck, and ended with Carlota Ciganda’s winning putt, making Team Europe champions once again on her home soil. This is Team Europe’s first-ever three-peat victory. As the team and their fans are celebrating their win, the American supporters are dejected.
Justin Ray, the golf enthusiast and content head of the sports-driven Twenty First Group, suggested a slight tweak to the game’s format on his Twitter (X). He suggested a playoff should be implemented. “Could really use a change to a playoff at the Solheim Cup implemented immediately,” he wrote.

This one fan found the Solheim Cup rules of retaining the cup after a tie ridiculous!

A European fan rubbing the salt on wounds reminded them how they’ve only had one session.

Another said that traditions should not be changed when it is convenient.
Why just the Solheim Cup? It’s been the tradition. So let’s not ask for a “change” when it’s convenient.

One said it would be more fun to have playoffs, and the captains would choose one player each.
Would be so fun. They each choose a player and go to a playoff. Would be the most exciting thing in golf imo.

Another fan suggested a penalty-style playoff for both the Solheim Cup and the Ryder Cup.
A penalty style playoff format where the captains pick one player for 1 hole at a time until someone wins a hole. For both cups. Would be fire.

One fan even called the rules of the game “dumb”.
