Tiger Woods has disclosed his loyalty to the PGA Tour. Moreover, the golfer recently opened up about his thoughts on LIV Golf. Ron Sirak, a popular golf journalist, recently tweeted that Woods’ loyalty to PGA Tour is courtesy of a valuable advice given to him by legendary golfer Arnold Palmer.

Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer had a great relationship. Though most fans argued who is the better player among the pair, the golfers had nothing but the utmost respect for each other.
Over the years, before he died in 2016, Palmer had advised Woods publicly during the tough phase in his life. But today we look back at an opinion from 1998 given by the 7 time Major Champion, to which Woods adheres to this day.

In 1998, both Hall of Famers were invited to PGA Tour Awards Dinner party at La Costa Resort and Spa. During the event, Woods was on his way to the podium to receive the Arnold Palmer award for the leading money winner in the 1997 season. However, he was stopped in his tracks by Palmer who gave a young Tiger vital advice.

Palmer reminded him how much the income in the sport had evolved since his playing days. He referenced how the $1 million in 1958 was amounting to $95 million in 1998. He then advised Woods and all other golfers by saying, “You guys who are playing for so much money. Remember you have an obligation to protect the integrity and traditions of the game of golf.”

Fast forward to 2022, the world of PGA Tour came crashing down after the emergence of LIV Golf. Thanks to the backing of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, the Tour has no problems when it comes to paying their golfers a 9-figure amount.
However, the 46-year-old has expressed his intention to continue playing in the PGA Tour. Ahead of The Open Championship, Woods shared his dejection with players who joined the Saudi-backed Golf Tour. He said, “What is the incentive to practice and earn it in the dirt?”
