2024 was the year of Nelly Korda! The former Olympic gold medalist dominated the LPGA Tour throughout the year. Replicating the success of fellow world no. 1 in men’s golf, Korda also managed 7 titles throughout the year. Just like Scheffler, she too won 1 major in 2024 and was judged the Player of the Year by the end of it all. What’s more? The two are also beginning their 2025 season on the same day. One will be at Pebble Beach while the other will be teeing off near Lake Nona.
But it seems that Nelly Korda is planning her 2025 season more like Rory McIlroy. For context, the Irishman confirmed that he will be cutting down on the PGA Tour events he played in 2025. Yes, Korda too hinted at something similar during her press conference for the 2025 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.
The official handle of the LPGA Tour shared a tweet featuring a video from Nelly Korda’s press conference a few minutes ago. The caption read, “Seven-time 2024 LPGA Tour winner Nelly Korda joins us ahead of the 2025 HGV Tournament of Champions”. During the interview, one of the journalists asked Korda if she enjoyed the extra week of holiday they received this year. The 2025 season of the LPGA Tour kicks off a week later than it did in previous years.

Responding to the report, the world no. 1 said that she has enjoyed having that extra week to relax. Especially because she was one of the few women’s golfers who ended their season late due to the 2024 Grant Thornton Invitational. Still speaking about her time away from golf, she stated, “I won’t be going to Asia this year. So I have a little bit of time off there as well”.

Nelly Korda abandons Asia
The 15x LPGA Tour winner made 16 starts in 2024. She missed the cut 3 times throughout the season. That makes her 7 victories even more impressive. However, the number could have been much bigger had she not gotten injured after the Kroger Queen City Championship. Nelly Korda missed 7 tournaments from September to November 2024. She came back to action with a win at Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican. The 7 misses included the entire Asian leg of the LPGA Tour. Korda apologized to her fans on Instagram for missing out on the Asian Swing.
Interestingly, she won’t have to do anything as such in the 2025 season. Having already confirmed about not traveling to Asia, Nelly Korda will enjoy a 2 month’s holiday from September to November 2025 as well. Hopefully, this time it won’t be due to an injury. Her schedule will still remain the same as it was in 2024. In fact, Korda might also add a few events this season to make up for not visiting Asia.
