That era was famously termed the Woods era. However, Singh took away Tiger’s thunder back in the day. He was at the peak of his game and secured back-to-back wins. As a consequence of his sheer skill and hard work, he was named the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year back then.
He was the first person of South Indian descent to touch the sky so high in the world of golf. However, Vijay has not been given enough media coverage over the years.
However, Singh once opened up about his life before turning pro. He was a doorman at a nightclub in Edinburgh. Detailing his experience, he said, “The women were the hardest ones to handle. When they fight … goodness gracious me.”
He added, “The worst part of the job was telling people they couldn’t come in because they were too drunk. It’s tough to always be the bad guy.”
Vijay also detailed how being the bad guy made him feel unsafe and on the radar of the people. He had to refuse entry as a part of his job. The pro golfer gave an insight to all his players into the struggles he had to face before turning pro.

Woods has a long history in golf. In his initial days, he practiced his game at Emerald Hills in order to avoid galleries and focus on his game. One of the people who saw him playing there recently talked about it.
He said, “Tiger came here to Emerald hills to work on his nine-hole short game.”
It was hard for Tiger to stay lowkey even during his initial days. This is partly due to the fact that his exceptional skills were hard to not notice. His practice sessions invited onlookers as they admired his impeccable shots.
