Remember how earlier this year Nelly Korda was dubbed the “Caitlin Clark of golf” after winning four consecutive tournaments, seeking a historic fifth? This comparison, made by defending champion Lilia Vu, highlights Korda’s dominance in the golf world, mirroring Clark’s impressive record-breaking season in women’s basketball. “She’s kind of our Caitlin Clark out here,” Vu had said.

Korda recently met Clark and was absolutely thrilled after playing nine holes with the basketball phenom. She praised Clark’s kind heart and infectious personality, saying their Instagram connection paled in comparison to meeting in person, which revealed Clark’s remarkable influence on fans. “It was amazing… She’s so sweet, so nice. It was nice to kind of get to spend some time with her… We’ve messaged a little on Instagram beforehand, but to get to spend some time with her and to see the influence that she has on people,” she said in the latest YouTube video by LPGA. “How, um, amazing of an influence she is just for sports was really cool to see firsthand today.”

Clark drew a huge crowd, and Korda was blown away by her ability to inspire and connect with people. Korda admired Clark’s passion for golf and women’s sports, acknowledging her impact on the game. As a golf legend, Korda confessed she’d never watched basketball until Clark came along. “It’s just great for women’s sports. I love that she has a love for the game of golf… I’ve never really tuned into watching basketball before her, honestly.” Korda loves how Clark’s golf enthusiasm and commitment to empowering women are sparking new interest in women’s sports. “So I think it’s just growing the interest and all of women’s sports, and I hope that’s what grows from this relationship,” she continued.

Nelly Korda thinks Caitlin Clark was ‘playing really well’

Caitlin Clark’s second LPGA event got off to an explosive start – literally! She nearly hit a group of fans and was overheard grumbling, but overall, she had a blast, which was exactly what she was looking for. Playing alongside two golf legends, Annika Sorenstam and Nelly Korda, Clark was in great company.

Sorenstam joined her for the final nine holes, while Korda partnered with Clark for the first nine. When asked about their time together, Korda shared a glowing review, saying Clark seemed to thoroughly enjoy herself. “Nine holes is kinda iffy. I’m still trying to practice and putt on the greens and, on top of that, chitchat with your other partners as well,” said Korda.

Korda revealed that Clark didn’t seek any advice from her during their round. Given the brief nine-hole duration, Korda was focused on her own practice and socializing with their group. However, Korda couldn’t help but praise Clark’s impressive skills, considering her packed schedule allows her to golf only once a week. “I asked her how many times a week she plays. With the amount of obligations she has, she probably gets to the golf course once a week and to play just once a week, she was playing really well.” What do you think? Did the Rookie of the Year do a good job on the greens?
