The Ryder Cup is one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world. Every golfer strives hard to make a place for them there. But, due to the ongoing confusion regarding the participation of LIV players, there is no surety of whether the skilled LIV golfers would get a chance to play the game or not.

During a recent press conference, Watson was spotted expressing his opinion on who should be Zach Johnson’s Ryder Cup pick. He initially proposed Talor Gooch’s name stating that “Talor should definitely get a pick.” This is because he believes that Gooch’s outstanding three wins are a justification to select him.

Moving forward, the 44-year-old American golfer also took Rickie Fowler‘s name, owing to his amazing performance at the Rocket Morgage Classic. According to him, both the players were impressive the last few weeks and have done an excellent job with their game. Watson also mentioned the high finishes that these players were able to secure.
Well, Zach Johnson, the U.S. Ryder Cup captain, will have six captain’s picks to make, and Gooch is one of the players who can be on the list. Johnson will likely make his picks in August. But there are high chances for Gooch, given that he has secured three LIV titles this season.

Talor Gooch has won three LIV Golf events so far in 2023, and he is currently ranked 83rd on the Ryder Cup points list. However, there are a few factors that could work against the three-time LIV individual winner.
Firstly, the Ryder Cup is around three months away, and things can suddenly take drastic changes. Secondly, Gooch is playing on the LIV Golf tour, which can be a hurdle for his entrance. And thirdly, he has never been a major champion, whereas Johnson, may choose players who have won majors.
