Another week, another tournament of golf. In the cycle of never-ending games, we are accustomed to yet another bout of golf tournaments all over the world. Additionally, the LIV Golf Series is also on the field for its Singapore event, merely a week since its Australian venture. But with another $25 million purse event, the rebel league far surpasses the powers of the existing PGA Tour and LPGA Tour.

How much are the PGA Tour and the LPGA Tour offering this week?

The historic Vidanta Vallarta Golf Course, the most prominent club in the country, hosts the competition. But for all the riches of the PGA Tour, the Mexico Open will feature a total purse of $7.7 million.

However, that amount is far greater than the one reserved for the ladies’ tour. The JM Eagle LA Championship, played at the Wilshire Country Club, faces lesser competition due to being scheduled immediately after the season’s opening major, the Chevron Championship.

The disparity between the PGA Tour and the LPGA Tour purses, despite a gradual narrowing in recent years, remains significant. The ongoing LA Championship commands a purse of $3 million this week, which is less than half of what the men’s golfer will be competing for.

In fact, the men’s figure even shadows the total purse of the Chevron Championship, which held a prize pool of $5.1 million. Despite all the imbalance, the two competitions barely total over $10 million this week, which is remarkably less than its adversary, the LIV Golf Series, which houses an extraordinary purse of $25 million for each event.

LIV Golf reigns supreme in the prize money battle

The Greg Norman-led series has been funded handsomely by the PIF, which is the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Among the many lucrative attractions, the purse of each event is set at $25 million, making it one of the richest golf leagues in the world.
