For the 151st edition of The Open, the prize money has been raised from $14 million in 2022 to $16.5 million in 2023. Of that, the winner will take home a whopping $3 million on Sunday, and hence, on the first day, all the golfers fought hard to take the lead and their first step towards the final round! However, amid the stunning displays of performance, one golfer stood out: Viktor Hovland. And it was not just for his incredible skill on the course, but also thanks to him receiving a special blessing from above!
Known for his epic golf attire that often stands out, Hovland was on the par-5 15th hole, preparing to hit his second shot, when he was interrupted by a flyby. A bird flew over him on the course and let loose on him. The moment the Norwegian golfer realized what had happened, he stepped back from the ball, walked up to his caddie, and said, “I just got sh*t on,” before hilariously cracking up.from over over him on the course, and revealed itself on him. Very quickly, the commentators too realized what had happened, and they could not control their laughter either. Amid the chuckles, they also went on to mention that being dropped by birds is often considered good luck. Well, perhaps that bird did bless Hovland, and maybe he will now see a few more birdies on the course? The PGA Tour star would certainly hope so!
Holvland’s ‘blessing from above’ video quickly went viral on social media and garnered a lot of attention from all around. The golf enthusiasts were positive that this incident brought nothing but lots of good luck for the golfer.
