It seems like Scottie Scheffler’s gameplay this season is as sluggish as his season started. So, as we all know, the world’s No. 1 golfer made his 2025 debut on the AT&T Pro-Am Tournament, which is currently underway at the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links. With high expectations from fans and critics alike, Scheffler’s performance is being closely watched. Can he live up to his top ranking and make a strong start to the season? Well, it doesn’t look like it.

Per the latest Twitter post by Fore Play podcast, things took a turn for the worse for Scheffler. The podcast shared that Scheffler bogeyed his first hole back, and his odds to win took a nosedive from +400 to +600 on DraftKings. The caption read, “Scottie Scheffler just bogeyed his first hole back and his odds to win went from +400 to +600 on our good friend @DraftKings . Do with that information what you will. #DKPartner.” Yeah, not exactly the start anyone was hoping for – Scheffler, his fans, or anyone who had their money on him.

Fans are expressing their disappointment on Scheffler’s underwhelming start so let’s see what they’ve to say.

Fans mock Scottie Scheffler on his upsetting start

“Scottie Scheffler is on pace to shoot 72 over par this week”, said one fan while the other said, “Just tuning into professional golf for the first time. I thought this Scottie Scheffler guy was supposed to be good?” Well, recently Scheffler had said that his hand injury, which happened when he accidentally shattered a wine glass while trying to roll out ravioli dough on Christmas Day, resulting in a puncture wound to his right palm that required surgery, wouldn’t impact his performance at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Despite the unfortunate incident, which he dubbed “stupid”, Scheffler assured reporters that everything was feeling good and he was excited to play, feeling well-rested and overall good. He even shared that he couldn’t live in a bubble and accidents happen, and fortunately, his injury wasn’t as severe as it could have been. Well, it seems like the case is quite the opposite given his performance.

Is Scottie Scheffler's ravioli injury a real setback, or just an excuse for his poor start?

Have an interesting take?

One fan said, “Scottie bogey on one, enjoy the korn ferry tour buddy!!!”, while the other said, “Another falls victim to Ravioli.” While Scheffler has been pretty unbothered with his ravioli injury, other golfers like McIlroy have been having a good laugh at his expense. McIlroy jokingly advised Scheffler to hire a chef, saying “I think he made enough money to hire a chef. It’s like why are you cooking yourself?” McIlroy’s lighthearted teasing was a humorous take on Scheffler’s unfortunate accident, which delayed his start to the 2025 PGA Tour season.

Many fans were surprisingly understanding and even optimistic about Scottie Scheffler’s lackluster performance, speculating that he might be intentionally holding back to conserve his energy for the upcoming Phoenix Open. Another fan said, “Lets save the 12 shot wins for next week.” It seems that Scheffler’s loyal fan base is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but what are your thoughts on Scheffler’s performance?
