Air Jordan has long been associated with Michael Jordan and his efficacy on the basketball court. But now, a golfer is joining the fame of alliance with a new ‘wave’ of her own. Michelle Wie West, who achieved greatness on the golf course since she was knee-high, had a big announcement to share with her fans while she prepared for the US Women’s Open 2023.

With the LPGA Tour’s event starting tomorrow, Wie West debuted the new limited edition Air Jordan 1 Golf monikered ‘Wave.’ Complex Sneakers was proud to share her accomplishment on their Instagram.

The pro golfer’s endorsement with Nike came to a fruitful achievement with the extraordinary design that, in a way, reflects the crux of her sport, and not just in name. The design that flaunts Air Jordan’s typical high-top form with Nike’s patented Swoosh comes with a personalization that acknowledges Michelle’s Hawaiin heritage. The Swoosh that appears to be a wave on the island’s surrounding water bodies is teal colored amid the otherwise white design. The pink laces also draw attention to the femininity of the otherwise masculine division of Nike that is focused on basketball shoes.

To make it more personalized to West, the initials of her daughter, Makenna, also appear on the tag of the shoe’s tongue. Also, Nike’s slogan, “Just Do it,” is imprinted on the shoes. All in all, it is a huge nod towards West’s personal association with the $182.7 billion  brand. The much-awaited accessory is available in limited numbers as of 5th July. The LPGA Tour legend has been on the Tour long enough to earn several titles to her name. She was the youngest female golfer to have joined the LPGA Tour circuit. Her Nike endorsement came right after her turning pro at the tender age of 16. In 2005, she signed multi-million dollar contracts with the billion-dollar conglomeration as well as Sony.
