The roster for the upcoming TimberTech Championship is out, and to people’s surprise, John Daly is missing from the line-up. The player last played in the Tour Championship in 2020 despite fighting cancer.

This year, the golfer ought to face Woods at the PNC, and prior to his appearance on the greens in December, the player has decided to stay off the Floridan green for a while. Daly’s strategic decision to avoid participating in the Tour Champions event in Florida seems like he is specifically avoiding the territory of Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods and his son Charlie, along with John Daly and his son John Daly II, are all set to make their appearance at the PNC Championship. The father-son tourney is a unique event, and thus, the golfing world is excited to see the pairs take the greens in December.

The event year is taking place at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando, and it will feature about 20 teams. Some big names under these teams are Gary Player, Nick Faldo, and Stewart Cink, who will all be playing alongside their relatives.

While Woods and Daly duos will take the greens together, it seems that prior to their showdown, John Daly is taking some time off the greens to charge up. The player is committed to the PNC Championship against Tiger Woods, and his taking an out from the Tour Championship could mean that he is saving his energy to prepare for the upcoming challenge against Woods.

In 2020, John Daly’s appearance on the greens in Boca Raton, Florida, shocked everyone as the player decided to take part in the tourney only a month after announcing his battle with cancer. The golfer shot an impressive 8-under 64 and shared a lead with Jim Furyk. The feat marked Daly’s lowest score in his five-year career as the PGA TOUR Champions.
