Irish golfer Pádraig Harrington, who plays on both the European Tour and the PGA Tour, has made a suggestion that will not go well with the other PGA Tour players. Harrington recently made an appearance at a Mercedes Benz event in Royal Liverpool, where he said that he expects to see LIV players included in the Ryder Cup. “I think the Ryder Cup is going to have the LIV players back,”. He believes that this new arrangement should be used to get a drive in the game and everybody deserves a second chance.

He said “The whole idea of this new [agreement] is, look, let’s not do any harm or damage to anybody in this situation. What I’m suggesting is everybody’s given a kind of clean slate.”

Giving an example of his own patch-up with Sergio Garcia at an earlier Ryder Cup, Harrington suggested that when players are at the game they get over their personal issues. “For a week, you know, you get over it. Myself and Sergio used to hug at the Ryder Cup. When you are playing you get over these things. You work through it.”

Pádraig Harrington and Sergio Garcia‘s famous feud

Things became even worse when the Irish Golfer called the Spaniard “a very sore loser”. But at the 2021 Ryder Cup, the two seemingly worked it out and were even seen hugging each other.

The 2023 Ryder Cup will be taking place in the last week of September at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, in Rome, Italy. Players who have been finalized to play at the event are Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Victor Perez, Viktor Hoveland, and others. The captain’s picks are yet to be claimed. And if Harrington’s vision comes true then seeing LIV and PGA Tour players together will make the match even more interesting, and worth watching.
