Tiger Woods appeared in only five events this year. The Open Championship in July was the last time he teed off, where he missed the cut. He had assured about appearing at the PNC Championship in December referring to it as the fifth major for him. However, things might have taken a turn for him. The 15x major winner went through lumbar spine surgery in September, making it his sixth back surgery. The surgery was successful, and he is hopeful to get back at golf quickly, but it surely will require him some time.
Now, this surgery has made his and Charlie Woods’s appearance at the family affair that PNC Championship is, an uncertain thought. Notably, Woods’s name is missing from Hero World Challenge too, but there are free spots left in the field, one of which he might fill. While Charlie Woods might not make it to the field, it looks like his 13-year-old rival will, that is Will McGee, Annika Sorenstam’s son. The young golfer has already stolen the spotlight too.
The PNC Championship took to their official Instagram account, in collaboration with Annika Sorenstam, officially announcing their presence at the family tradition. “Family. That’s what this event is all about. #CelebrateFamily #PNCChampionship”, they wrote in the caption.

This was just a few weeks after his father, Mike McGee, shared his enthusiasm after his son competed at the Lake Highland Prep Golf match earlier this month. “I enjoyed following @will_mcgee2 in his Lake Highlands golf match today. He doubled (1st of season) the last for a 39 at @thecountrycluboforlando. Before he started, we saw @jimthorpegolf who played with my dad, and I told him Will has grandpa’s short game, and he said, “Then my man is destined for success,” wrote the loving father.
