Four months after failing to make the cut at the 2020 Women’s Australian Open, Cheyenne indulged in a conversation with a media house. During the conversation, she admitted, “I thought if I just pretended it didn’t bother me, it wouldn’t – but I learned that I truly did have to address it.

During the conversation, she further elucidated her way of rising above the tag of ‘Tiger Woods’ niece” to explore her own individuality. “I had to see for myself that I am a person, a golfer outside of being Tiger’s niece, before anybody else can see that as well, she said. “I know why I am doing this, I know who I am. I had to disregard what people wrote or said. I’m doing this for me”

Dealing with the tag to rise up as a better individual

As one says, ‘maturity comes with experience’. Similar was the case with Cheyenne. Despite all the downfalls, the Arizona born golfer made sure to not only have a cordial relation with Tiger but also find a way to look out for the positives of being his niece. Something, that ultimately resulted in her growth as a better player.

Two years since the interview, Cheyenne Woods continues to walk on her path of success. In April last year, she, along with baseball star Aaron hicks gave birth to their son, Cameron Jaxson Hicks. On the other hand, her uncle, Tiger Woods, is making the final touches before his much anticipated return to the game later this year.
