Despite the ups and downs for the league, TGL has surpassed the expectations of ESPN with 502,400 viewers on average. Even the funny moments, like Kevin Kisner’s flagstick shot on February 19th, which left the entire world in laughter, went viral. Now as we come closer to the end of season one, there have been many speculations about the upcoming season for the tech-infused league.

For the team owners, Mike McCarley has already been praised for their participation in season 1. But what caught the attention was his statement on the expansion part. “But we got a lot of really interesting, diverse people domestically and internationally. They can kind of take a look and see what it looks like going forward,” he said. This statement from the CEO has raised hopes for the second season. However, there is still a lot to uncover.

McCarley has already laid the foundation for it and has shared the prospect of many top names joining in for the second season. He shared that apart from businessmen and women, some athletes and entertainers are eager to invest in a limited partnership. Sharing about the update, he said, “We’re in the middle of an expansion process now.” With talks ongoing with prominent names, the expansion is confirmed, but the founder is still not sure about the timeline.

Well, being in the process is, for now, enough for the fans. However, what he shared further raised eyebrows as he said the prospective team owners were part of the tournament. He said, “We’ve had potential expansion team owners at every single match this season coming to visit us. Some of them, multiple times. Some of them have a lot of questions, a lot of feedback.” Now, with the questions and doubts, it will take some time to get new partners for the expansion.

Apart from the new partners, existing ones have some new plans to suggest. Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian, owner of the LAGC, watched the great game from the team. However, despite their existing partnership, they have suggested new additions to the league.

TGL season 2 suggestion

With the sign of talks going on, the expansion is likely going to happen sooner than later. Even the owners of the Los Angeles GC, Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams, have stepped up with a suggestion. Ohanian, when investing, had one condition, which was to include women’s teams as well.

According to CNN, he said, “I’m not making any news here, but I’ll just say that when I invested, it was on the condition that I get a women’s team as well. I’m very bullish on women.” Being a father of two daughters and husband of a tennis professional, he values and understands how women athletes are undervalued. For which he aims to get LPGA pros into the league.

Even for the move and talks on it, Michelle Wie West, who retired from professional golf in 2023, has shared her happiness about the move. She said, “But it’s great to hear they’re in the conversation. This would be really great for mixed team events; I think the fans are yearning for it.” With the league getting 42% of the audience in the 18-42 demographics, it has tied with the NBA to get the youngest television audience for the league. The moves that are revolutionizing the game will be crucial for TGL to continue to garner younger audiences for the sport. Even that’s what the majority of the prominent names are suggesting.

Now, with the expansion and new suggestions being considered, it will be a significant move for the TGL league. Even with the shortcomings of the season, which was the odd timing. The league could fix that and offer a better and more uniform schedule. We think it would be the evolution of golf with season two. What are your thoughts on it? Are you eager for season 2 of TGL?
