Team USA did it! Stacy Lewis’s squad got their revenge on Suzann Pettersen’s Team Europe from last year, and for two editions before that, This year, all eyes were on Lexi Thompson, as she’s set to retire at the end of the 2024 season, and this one was her seventh Solheim appearance. Last year, the golfer faced similar criticism after a critical mishit during a Friday afternoon four-ball match when she was playing alongside Lilia Vu. On the 18th hole, Thompson’s third shot from the rough rolled back down a hill, leaving her farther from the hole than where she started. This misstep proved costly for Team USA, as they lost the match 1 down to Georgia Hall and Leona Maguire. In the end, the tournament was a tie, and Team Europe retained the Cup.
Fast forward to this year; it happened again after she lost her lead. Surprisingly, some are talking about last year’s shank; meanwhile, some took the criticism even further and are questioning the golfer’s worth to the team.
