Bryson DeChambeau infamously switched sides to LIV Golf despite his prior assurances to the existing PGA Tour. The condition – a contract worth $125 million. However, it looks like DeChambeau won’t be getting his hands full any time soon. According to a report released by a leading daily, the newly-inducted players have signed on a few terms that can lead to their exclusion from the LIV family; here’s a selection of those.

Conditions to be met by Bryson DeChambeau

According to the report, all players who have signed with LIV would have to compromise on complete media and image rights. For the sake of formality, they have agreed to sign over “exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide” rights to “exhibit, exploit, copy, reproduce and otherwise use” their image.

Apart from the media rights, DeChambeau will have to appear for every LIV event on the calendar. This was first seen on fellow LIV golfer, Talor Gooch’s contract, which required players to participate in every tournament on the schedule, unless in exceptional circumstances.

This condition is opposite to what DeChambeau had said regarding his decision to quit the PGA Tour. The 2020 US Open winner had revealed that business matters and extended time with family were the main reasons for prioritizing LIV over PGA.

“It was a business decision, first and foremost,” DeChambeau had said. “That’s all there was to it. It’s [LIV] given me a lot more opportunities outside of the game of golf and given me more time with my family and my future family. So for me, that was the decision.”

What else is in store for DeChambeau and LIV players?

So far, all three LIV events have been free of any restrictions on sporting apparel. However, that seems soon to change. Future LIV events will have the Tour’s clothing and logos, to be donned by players on and off the field. The change is most likely to be in effect from 2023.

Apart from the reasons mentioned above, an interview ban is another condition that can disrupt DeChambeau’s pay. The player’s contract hinders them from appearing for interviews with reference to the league. It also includes getting prior approval before posting anything related to LIV golf on social media.

Bryson DeChambeau joined the LIV series on June 10 for a massive paycheck worth $125 million. He has competed in every one of LIV events since. So far, DeChambeau has kept his word on the contract but has to be careful of any slip-ups that can cause the upper hierarchy at LIV to reconsider DeChambeau’s agreement.
